Ms. Breakstone is a Motion & Appellate Attorney at Belluck Law. Prior to joining the firm, she served as Senior Principal Law Clerk to Justice Barbara R. Kapnick at the Appellate Division, First Department, where she was responsible for legal research and case analysis. In that role, she drafted opinions, judicial reports, and legal memoranda.
Ms. Breakstone’s career began as a felony trial assistant in the Domestic Violence and Special Victims Bureaus of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. A prosecutor for nearly six years, she successfully tried cases ranging from elder abuse to human trafficking, trained in a specialized trauma-informed approach to prosecution, and worked proactively on numerous grant-sponsored specialty court innovation initiatives including elder abuse, human trafficking, barrier free justice for people with disabilities, and young adult diversion programming.
Ms. Breakstone also spent years in private practice at various prominent personal injury firms in New York City and has since led federal litigation against the hotels industry for knowingly profiting from sex trafficking and litigated cases involving a wide variety of sexual abuse claims against complicit institutions.
Samantha Breakstone is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, with a dual major in Psychology and Medicine, Health, and Society (Vanderbilt’s interdisciplinary bioethics and public health major). She attended Case Western Reserve University where she received her J.D. from the School of Law and her M.A. in Bioethics from the School of Medicine. Ms. Breakstone was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2014.
