Joseph W. Belluck, founder of Belluck Law, has been unanimously re-elected Chair of the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, continuing a leadership role he has held since 2016. The Commission also unanimously re-elected Taa Grays as Vice Chair during its June 18, 2026 meeting. Both will serve new two-year terms.

The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct is the independent agency responsible for investigating allegations of judicial misconduct and ensuring that judges throughout New York uphold the highest standards of ethics and professionalism. The Commission plays a critical role in maintaining public trust and confidence in the state’s court system.

Belluck has served on the Commission since 2008 as a gubernatorial appointee and has chaired the organization for the past decade. In that role, he has helped oversee the Commission’s work in promoting judicial accountability while safeguarding the independence of New York’s judiciary.

“I am honored to serve on the Judicial Conduct Commission, which plays an important role in maintaining public confidence in the integrity of the courts,” Belluck said in a statement released by the Commission. “I appreciate the confidence of our dedicated colleagues in re-electing me as Chair and Taa Grays as Vice Chair, and we look forward to our continued work in upholding both the independence and accountability of the judiciary.”

The Commission’s membership is made up of individuals appointed by the Governor, the Chief Judge of the State of New York, and legislative leaders. Members serve renewable four-year terms, while the Chair and Vice Chair are elected by fellow commissioners to renewable two-year leadership terms.

In addition to his work on the Commission, Belluck is widely recognized for his leadership in the legal profession. As founder of Belluck Law, he has spent decades advocating for individuals and families affected by mesothelioma, asbestos-related diseases, and other serious injuries. His re-election reflects the confidence his fellow commissioners place in his judgment, integrity, and commitment to public service.

Vice Chair Taa Grays brings extensive legal and governance experience to the Commission. Formerly Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Information Governance at MetLife, she currently serves as president of the New York State Bar Association. She has served on the Commission since 2017 and as Vice Chair since 2020.

As Chair, Belluck will continue to guide the Commission’s efforts to ensure that New York’s judges meet the ethical standards expected by the public and the legal profession. Through its investigations and disciplinary authority, the Commission remains an important safeguard for fairness, integrity, and accountability within the state’s judicial system.

The unanimous re-election of both Belluck and Grays underscores the Commission’s confidence in their leadership as it continues its mission of strengthening public trust in New York’s courts.
