Belluck Law Wins Motions in Mesothelioma Case Involving Asbestos Exposure from Talcum Powder and Cosmetic Products
Belluck Law has successfully defeated motions for summary judgment in a mesothelioma case involving a client who developed mesothelioma after years of exposure to asbestos from talcum powder and cosmetic products. The products at issue include CoverGirl powdered cosmetics, Colgate-Palmolive Company’s Mennen’s Baby Magic talcum powder, Dr. Scholl’s and Tinactin foot powders, and talcum powder products manufactured or distributed by Bristol Myers Squibb, The Procter & Gamble Company and Idelle Labs.
The defendants sought dismissal of the claims before trial, challenging the evidence concerning their products and their connection to the client’s asbestos exposure and mesothelioma. The court denied the motions, allowing the client’s claims to proceed. The ruling is another significant step toward holding manufacturers and other companies accountable when asbestos-containing products contribute to the development of mesothelioma, a devastating cancer caused by asbestos exposure.
